About the role

Reporting to the IT Manager, the IT Technician will be responsible for supporting all Westbow employees with their IT needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a customer-oriented mindset. As an IT Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining computer all IT Systems, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and ensuring the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure across all of locations.

What you’ll be doing

  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining company hardware, software, and peripherals.
  • Fielding incoming help requests via both telephone, e-mail, tickets in a courteous manner
  • Performing hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications
  • Performing preventative maintenance
  • Setting up and maintaining user accounts, permissions, and security settings.
  • Prioritizing issues/requests based on urgency and impact
  • Managing inventory supplies
  • Testing fixes to ensure problems have been adequately resolved
  • Performing post-resolution follow-ups to help requests
  • Keeping pace with the software used by the organization / adhere to IT best practices
  • Keeping up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in the IT industry.
  • Recording, tracking, and documenting the help desk request problem-solving process
  • Developing help sheets and frequently asked questions lists for end users


What we’re looking for

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is preferred
  • 2-5 Years working in an IT Role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and 365 suite (email, sharepoint) experience
  • CompTIA A+ certification and/or relevant Microsoft certification is considered an asset
  • Experience with remote support (e.g., helpdesk/service desk, PC, phone, documentation and maintaining documentation)
  • Experience with Windows Desktop and Server Operating Systems and back-end server support (e.g., setting up email accounts / file server permissions)
  • Experience running and terminating network cables
  • Working knowledge of a range of diagnostic utilities
  • Ability to conduct research into a wide range of computing issues as required
  • Familiarity with Active Directory / Azure / Intune / Etc.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening, and questioning skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Ability to absorb and retain information quickly
  • Highly self-motivated and directed
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
